Our Sweet Bella
We saw her on Pet Harbor, I went down to see her and it broke my heart to see this little young girl so scared she was shaking. As soon as her stray hold was up, I went back to get her. She was still a scared little girl and I pretty much had to carry her everywhere. I bought her a pretty princess collar and pink bandana. She would become our Princess. I was going to foster her and she could become Miki’s protégé to learn how to become a little Diva. See we had plans for this little girl. We were all going to love on her and find her a really good home where she could be a princess everyday! I told little Isabella I would find her a home. I just didn't know that home would be heaven. In the Twilight story, Isabella tells Edward “I dream about being with you forever”. I can say Isabella is with her Edward now forever. I will miss her. I am heartbroken.
Bella’s situation is a very sad one. There’s no one to blame but the humans that had her to begin with and didn’t take care of her. Then she ends up in a disease ridden shelter (unvaccinated) terrified in her kennel to be rescued by us, to be loved by us, and to try to save her life to the end when she got sick. Bella wasn’t alone when she went to sleep forever this evening. She was surrounded by love. Sweet dreams Bella.

Bella Update
From Auntie Margie: Miss Isabella is not doing so well today. Her temperature has slowly crept upward again (103.4), she has lost a couple pounds, and she cant keep any food or even her water down. Bella is also showing some neurological signs today. Her left ear and eye twitch in spurts, and lately she rubs her face or head with her paws. So things are not looking good for Bella.
Bella may still rally in the next few days. But she can just as easily linger and decline another week before she really crashes. We just dont know yet and I think the next day or two will probably tell us.
Isabella is such a sweet little girl and still trying to fight her way through this. Paws crossed she still makes it...

Bella Update
From Auntie Margie: So far no real update from today. Her temp was good today. I dont think she is on fluids, so probably drinking enough. They were going to recheck her again soon and Im still waiting for a call back from Dr.H. Guess he is waiting until after the re-check? IMO no new is good news... or at least nothing worse is happening? Paws crossed for our Princess!

Bella Update
From Auntie Margie: Bella was doing ok today. A little more alert and not painful in the rear. She drank water and ate several more cans of food. Bella also took her meds without any trouble. Bella also had a burst of energy when she was on an outside potty break, zooming into a set of bushes behind the clinic fence. My first impression was Bella popped awake and seemed a little more alert when I arrived. Her eyes were more open, although it makes her blinking more obvious, and her second eyelids weren’t rolled up and visible like the night before. She is still very tired, but wakes easily and doesn’t startle. I found the flat stainless steel cat bowl we used Sat and she ate from that without any problems. Bella was very interested in her food and ate another 2 1/2 cans of the AD! She still wouldn’t drink water but she did earlier. So other than the water... so far, so good?
There was a little dried tearing from her eyes though and she was also making a few odd sounds. I thought at first her stomach was upset and gurgling as she swallowed hard a couple times. But mostly she has some nasal congestion now and a slight discharge that is very clear. Her breathing still sounds ok in the chest and no obvious signs of neurological problems, those are both definitely good.
Bella was comfy on her puffy quilt and did not want to come out of the ISO cage. She gave me some trouble there trying to get back inside... a very determined little girl so she has some energy? I finally just picked her up and carried her over to the lift scale. Her weight is still the same and her temperature seems unchanged from Sat at just slightly above normal (102.9). So those are all good as well.
She climbed back into the ISO cage, bedding freshly changed and puffed, and settled herself for another nap. She needed beauty rest after her big adventure? I petted her for a long while and Bella finally let out a big sigh and her head slowly dipped. She was asleep! Unfortunately closing the cage door woke her up again, but she went back to sleep shortly and I left her to dream.
Bella is still quite ill. Right now she just wants to be loved on while she snoozes. But its really a good sign she is holding her own with only a minor increase of obvious symptoms. So Im hoping Isabella will pull through this as she continues to eat, get fluids, and rest. Treatment takes time and its still going to be a long week though?

Oh no...I'm very sick!
We sure did drive a long way but Ms. Kim was so friendly, I came up between the front seat and she gave me lots of petting! I really liked that and when she would stop (why would she stop...maybe her arm was sore from all the petting? Nah!!), I would paw her to let her know I wanted her to keep going! We finally got to a place and once I got in, it seemed familiar; it was Ms. Kim's vet. She said the vets here was very nice and it was where she took her fur-kids, and he was going to check me out and see why I was feeling so bad. Another nice lady, or so I thought until she stuck something cold up my bootie (how rude!), came and checked me out a little. Then a nice guy came and I found out he was the vet. He did his little exam and told Ms. Kim that he suspected I had distemper which neither of them looked happy about. I don't quite know what that is but Ms. Kim told me it wasn't a good thing and that I needed lots of doggie prayers cause she didn't want me to go to doggie heaven like Max did a few months ago.
She put me back in the car for another ride and this time I recognized the place we were at, Auntie Margie's clinic! We went in and I got tons of love from Auntie Margie and she gave me lots of pets too! Auntie Margie was so silly thinking she could get me to walk all the way to the back but I was just waiting for Ms. Kim to feel sorry for me and carry me (maybe she is the doggie stroller?) and I got to lay on a big fluffy thing! I was so exhausted, I just laid there but kept blinking my eyes so I could see what was going on. Then Auntie Margie gave me a bowl full of wet stuff and I tried a little bit of it...it tasted great and I ate the whole thing plus 2 more bowls!! Wooohooo!!! I was starving since I wasn't able to eat anything this morning!
Oh I almost forgot, there was another nice lady that came to the clinic, Ms. Jamie. She was a hoot doing whatever she was doing in the clinic; but she was so worried about her baby, Miko getting inflicted by my disease that she told Auntie Margie to stay away from her Miko! Auntie Margie then put me in my isolation cage so I could sleep and rest my eyes. She and Ms. Kim were talking about how Ms. Delilah would be so worried about me but hopefully since I ate on my own and I have a little more reactiveness that I'm a little further ahead than my cousin Max was when he first came in so they're all hoping for a miracle with me and that I will get better! I think Ms. Jamie and Auntie Margie are coming back tomorrow to take care of me so for now, I will just sleep in my nice comfy area with the "infamous pee spot" pad! Again, don't know what that means, but I like my new area.

Bella Update
Hi everyone. Ms. Delilah called Strawberry this morning to check on me. Ms. Diana told her I am doing better. I ate all my food and my stools have been hard. That's yucky; why she got to talk about my #2? I am more perkier today too and have only coughed a couple times. Ms. Delilah asked out of 1 - 100%, how much better was I and they told her 65%. So I don't have to go to the doctor today. I'm a little sad because I don't get to see Ms. Delilah but she said she'll keep checking on me and will see me soon.

Bella Goes to the Vet
Ms. Delilah came back today to see me! I got excited when I first saw her. I think she liked that. The nice kennel boy helped me get in Ms. Delilah's car and off we went. I asked Ms. Delilah was I going home yet? She said no, I was going to see the Vet and she explained to me he's a doctor for dogs and I needed to be healthy as can be before she finds me my home. We got to listen to the band Muse off the Twilight soundtrak. I still don't understand that Twilight stuff but oh well. We arrived at the Vet clinic where I got to meet Auntie Margie. She's a super nice lady and she said I was really cute. Then they took me away for a couple tests that I didn't like. They brought me back to Ms. Delilah and we got to see Dr. Clive. He said I'm at least 1 but he thinks I may be a little younger, maybe a tad under 1. He told me I was cute too. Dr. Clive says I'm Heartworm Negative and I weigh 42 pounds. Ms. Delilah told him she noticed I was panting on the ride over here and she didn't know if it's still stress or something else. Dr. Clive took my temperature and it was 104! That was high. And then I coughed 3 times! Dr. Clive says I may touch of kennel cough and gave me a shot and I have to take antibotics now. Ms. Delilah took me back to Strawberry and told Ms. Diana to keep an extra eye on me and Ms. Delilah will call her every day to check on me. I have new pictures of me too you can see here.

Strawberry?
After Ms. Delilah and me went joyriding for awhile; she told me she had to drop me off at Strawberry. Strawberry? What's that? Is that home? Maybe it's that thing she kept typing on and taking pictures of me with. No silly, she said, it's a kennel and because I've been in a shelter I have to go here for 10 days in insolation to make sure I didn't pick up something bad at jail. I got scared again and I didn't want to come out of the car so Ms. Delilah had to carry me. She told Ms. Debbie and Ms. Kim that if she had to keep carrying me she's going to have to buy me a doggy stroller. I saw a bunch of little creatures there too. Ms. Delilah said they're called cats and I can't touch them. There was a very nice lady, Ms. Diana, at Strawberry that cut off the ulgy collar I got at jail and then she took me away. Ms. Delilah gave me a big hug and told me I'll be ok. I hope so.

My Name
Ms. Delilah gave me a name, Isabella. She said she will call me Bella for short. I like it. It sounds pretty. Ms. Delilah said she named me after Isabella in Twilight, a real cool story she read and they made a movie out of it. She said she will find me my Edward or Jacob. Who's Edward? Or Jacob? Is that home? She said she'll see which one she likes better after she finishes another book called Breaking Dawn. I'm confused. I don't know what she talking about but I do like my name.
Jail Break
The nice lady came back to see me today. I found out her name is Ms. Delilah. She told Ms. Cherie, that she's taking me! I'm still scared though. This place is spooky and all the noises bother me. Ms. Delilah bought me a pretty collar that she said it is all mine and a bandana too to match. She took more pictures of me too. She keeps telling me it will help me find a home.
Jail - 12/31/08
I'm really scared in this place. I don't know what's going on. A real nice lady and man came to see me today. They had some really yummy treats. They wanted me to come out but I was so scared but I did. The nice lady took a bunch of pictures of me. She said it will help me find a home. Home, that sounds nice. I was sad when they left. I hope they come back.
